Rules Were Made to Be Broken

I am calling out to all 5 of my blogging friends.. I need a little help with a request from Jordan. Yesterday in his email he asked for some music and a portable cd player. He wanted "soft" music such as Enya. I am going to get some mixes together and need your advice on artists that would be good to send to him. I am thinking along the lines of Norah Jones, Jack Johnson, The October Project, Josh Grobin, etc...I am really debating and will probably push the limits on a few choice others; however, I feel that music can be a great distraction when needed and can also stimulate emotion and spirituality. And to be quite frank, he has devoted 2 years of his life to serving God and the human race and deserves a little fun while in the labors of Costa Rica. Any suggestions would help tremendously!

Letters from the Missionary

So..I know I have been slacking on the letters. Here is one from October 7th, 2008!

Dear Mom,

Hey Momma! How are things on Bengal! Today is p-day and I emailed you ...but it was short cuz I had 11 emails to respond to! Ha ha. So I am writing a letter to make up for it ok? Once again, thank you so much for the uplifting letters and emails. They help me so much. Has Zuni lost any weight yet? I've gained 7 lbs! It's crazy. I really hope Grandpa is doing o.k. I am worried about him. But, I swear that man is like a cat, how many lives does he have?! Is Jim alright too? So, I had an awesome spiritual experience last Friday. We were calling the people in the referral center (yep I am back to telemarketing) and a lady answered the phone that only spoke Spanish so I could only speak Spanish! But, luckily the spirit helped me and I ended up sending the missionaries to her house! It was an awesome experience! Well I love you mom and miss you tons! Thanks for everything!

Dear Jon,

Hey! I cannot believe Utah beat Oregon State. That is awesome! What are the rankings of BYU and Utah now? I hope they are both doing well. How are your classes coming? I study so much here it is crazy. Ha ha! So, our district leader is a nutcase...our class is on the 4th floor of the building and we are supposed to take the stairs...not the elevator. This gets quite annoying so the other day we decided to screw it and take the elevator. Our district leader then started screaming at his companion Elder Litchfield, yelling "When you break the rules you make me break the rules!! Promies me you will never take the elevator again! Promise it!!" Ha ha. It was SO funny! Well Jon I love you and miss you tons.

Love,

Elder J-Meister Buck

P.S. You guys should send me more stamps!

The Year of the Lincoln

I have been neglectful with my posts due to another Grandpa George car accident. Last Monday he was down in Utah County looking for property for the company. His driver pulled to the side of the road so that Grandpa could take down a phone number for a real estate agent. Some kid who was not paying attention, slammed into the back of their car going about 50 miles an hour. Lincoln number two for the year was totaled. George was taken to the American Fork hospital where I was introduced into a whole new world. Now I preface my next remarks with a great big apology as I do know one person from American Fork who I absolutely adore (I will protect the innocent)....but I have never seen so many hilljacks in all my life!? Can you believe I have never even driven through AF before this accident? It is a quaint, rural town. I just didn't know how different it would be. Grandpa is back home and doing well. We are thinking that Cadillac is going to be the next car we purchase for him. Lincolns and George, just don't seem to be a good fit!

Diversion

So...this blog was to update on Jord, but I am so bent I need to update on other things. Tonight when Jon went to pick up his car from the trax station he went to open the door and guess what?!? THERE WAS NO DOOR HANDLE TO OPEN. Some little punk broke into both doors and ripped the dashboard off and stole the stereo and all contents of the car. Stupid stuff like PENNIES from the ashtray. I am telling you, if Jon (and we all know what kind of temper Jon has....let me take ya back a few years to the road rage, spit on car episode with his mother-in-law in the back seat) saw these people break into our car he would have killed them. He was so mad. Me being the loving, supporting wife that I am, was not concerned with the anger. I simply said. "I told you so." I have never felt comfortable with those trax stations and told him I didn't want him leaving a car there. My sentiment helped tremendously. I knew it would. It calmed him down and he came home and we sang "we are a happy family." Here is a picture of this happy family.

The First Letter

Dear Family,
Hey Guys! I am alive and well! After you guys all left it was crazy. I didn't have a second to sit down and think. It's nuts. My companion is Kevin Douglas Nelson. He is from Ricksburg, Idaho. He is way nice, but pretty quiet which is hard. Oh and I will be okay with one suit. No worries. My P-day is Tuesday so I'll be able to email you then. But Jon, you have to write me still! But anyways....it's lights out so I gotta go. But I love you all so much! Oh and where are my belts? Let me know!
Love,
Elder Buckner
After reading this, my heart warmed. Ahhhh..he still needs his mother. The kid doesn't know how to unzip and unpack a basic suitcase to find a belt.

Jordan, Bubba...Troy McClure...he has many names

This blog is dedicated to my son Elder Jordan Buckner who has been called to serve the San Jose, Costa Rica mission. He left for the MTC September 24th, 2008 and we are ever so lonely without him. I wanted to have a place to post his letters and give you all the latest updates on his progress and what is happening with our little family.
